There is a FREE construction pattern explains how to make the blocks up into the quilt.

Finished quilt size is 35 1/2″ x 35 1/2″.

Tea Party is a smaller version of Grandmothers Teaparty.

I decided to do a ‘remodel’ when I wanted to make the stitcheries into a wall hanging to match my Spode collection and hang the quilt amongst my china collection.  These designs have always been very special to me and probably one of my favourite quilt designs. 

I grew to love fine china as a child from my grandmother who also taught me to sew and stitch. Gran only ever drank her tea from a bone china cup and saucer and made tea in a bone china teapot. It was a ceremony that I loved as a child and loved the whole ‘tea party’ set up that we did every afternoon at Gran’s for afternoon tea.

My mother also loved this ‘ceremony’ but had a young family and therefore went for the more ‘thicker’ style of china such as Spode.  Mum loved her blue and white and had it everywhere throughout the house when I was a child.

At the start of 2019, my mother died suddenly and the one collection of things I really wanted to inherit was her collection of blue and white plates to hang on my wall. So the inspiration came that I could remodel Grandmothers Teaparty into a smaller quilt and hang the quilt amongst what is now three generations of china.

The flowers on the quilt are only in three colours to signify the three generations of my family, my Gran, my Mum and myself. Gran and Mum loved, and I love, gardens and especially the flowers that grow in the garden. We all love to put the flowers in vases, jugs, teacups and any other vessel in amongst the china.
