The Story of how we have got started :
In 1995, a small home business was started. The name, Nikki Tervo Designs. It was started after Nikki Tervo was involved in a serious industrial accident. Set up more as a rehabilitation programme. At the time never in her wildest dreams, was Nikki ever aware that the business would end up where it is today.
Today the business is the largest ceramic button business in Australia and is certainly one of the largest in the world. With over 500 different button designs and many of these coming in several different colours, the range is very extensive.
Accompanying the buttons, there is also over 200 different quilting and stitching patterns in the Nikki Tervo Designs range. Designed by Nikki, the patterns are a very wide variety. There is something for every one. From motorbikes to cute mice, little projects to full quilt patterns
With big and bright photographs printed on the fronts of the patterns, it is even easy to make the designs quickly and easily and most stitchery patterns contain full colour charts.
Hand made
Every button is still individually hand made and hand painted. No button is identical. Each is lovingly painted by hand and individually hand crafted. Nikki is still making them herself.
Nikki Tervo graduated from Art College with a ‘diploma of Art majoring in Ceramics’ in 1986. With this history as a technical back ground, the buttons durability and quality is second to none.
Outlets
Nikki Tervo has been supplying retail outlets in Australia and New Zealand for years and all have had great success with her products. If you are interested in becoming a stockist please contact us.
Customers who have dealt with the business in the past have only had positive results. With a belief that ‘nothing is ever too hard to fix’. Customers are always gaining the assistance they need when they need it.
Our motto
“If we don’t know about it, we can’t fix it”.
With quality guaranteed on the products, every customer comes out a winner and surely is the reason why the business has lasted the test of time.
Commitment
Nikki is committed to maintaining a top customer service and so keeps her business at a level to make sure this happens. Having now made so many wonderful friends through the customers and the shop owners that she meets and deals with, Nikki is committed to the craft industry. Even today, after painting buttons for the last 18 years, she still loves what she does and this reflects in every button she makes or pattern she designs.
In 2010 it was decided that after 14 years of travelling the world to craft shows it was time for a change. The aim to start to teach more, stay home and concentrate on the designing and production. Nikki would prefer to help support specialty shops around Australia and New Zealand.
Location
With the children now grown up and moved out of home, John and Nikki made the move to the mountains behind the Gold Coast in 2019.
Setting up a new home, moving a business and surviving the bush fires close to their home at Binna Burra, John and Nikki are settling into a slower pace of life, while the business is still thriving.
More Stitchery designs have become Nikki’s main focus. A fantastic fabric printer is now able to offer her designs preprinted on top quality Quilters Cotton. All the Preprinted patterns include a paper copy of the design. Another one can be traced off. Preprints allow for very intricate designs. The preprints are great value for money.
All products are sent anywhere in the world. Nikki and John and their family would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your custom and your support over the years. We look forward to sharing a whole new chapter with you in the future.
