In 1995, a small home business was started by the name of Nikki Tervo Designs. It was started after Nikki Tervo was involved in a serious industrial accident. Set up more as a rehabilitation programme and as a way to help pay for her addiction, ‘quilting’. At the time never in her wildest dreams, was Nikki ever aware that the business would end up where it is today.
Today the business is the largest ceramic button business in Australia and is certainly one of the largest in the world. With over 500 different designs and many of these coming in several different, colours the range is enormous.
Accompanying the buttons, there is also over 200 different quilting and stitching patterns in the Brandy Gully range. Designed by Nikki, many patterns are designed to compliment the range and these incorporate many of the different buttons.
In 2009 it was decided to rebrand the pattern side of the business to Brandy Gully.
Nikki Tervo Designs is so well known for the ceramic buttons that the patterns were sometime being overlooked. With bigger and brighter photographs printed on the fronts of the patterns, it is even easier now to make the designs come to fruition quickly and easily.
The business is a family based business and whilst the business has grown, the quality has just gotten better. Every button is still individually hand made and hand painted. No button is identical, as it is lovingly painted by hand and individually hand crafted.
Nikki Tervo graduated from Art College with a ‘diploma of Art majoring in Ceramics’ in 1986 and has been involved in the industry ever since. With this history as a technical back ground, the buttons durability and quality is second to none.
Nikki Tervo has been supplying hundreds of retail outlets in Australia and New Zealand for years now and all have had great success with her product.
Customers who have dealt with the business in the past have only ever had positive results. With a belief that 'nothing is ever too hard to fix', customers are always gaining the assistance they need when they need it.
Our motto is that if we don't know about it, we can't fix it. With quality guarenteed on the products, every customer comes out a winner and surely is the reason why the business just goes from strength to strength.
Nikki is committed to maintaining a top customer service and so keeps her business at a level to make sure this happens. Having now made so many wonderful friends through the customers and the shop owners that she meets and deals with, Nikki is committed to the craft industry. Even today, after painting buttons for the last 18 years, she still loves what she does and this reflects in every button she makes or pattern she designs.
In 2010 it was decided that after 14 years of travelling the world to craft shows it was time for a change.
The products will always be at the craft shows through one or more of the many shops Nikki supplies. With the wish to start to teach more, stay home and run her shop, Brandy Gully Patchwork, and help support specialty shops around Australia and New Zealand, things are still moving with a high level of focus on quality and service.
